Discoverying Havana

Imagen
As I had been recommended previously, we took a guided tour around the most relevant places of Havana. It started in the Revolution Square, which has an enormous surface of seven hectares. Everything looked green and sweet there and I could see three sculptures that represented Che Guevara, José Martí and Camilo Cienfuegos, leaders in 1959.      Then, we visited the Central Park and the Capitolio. I felt deeply in love with the city while discoverying its iconic corners and being in touch with many street sellers.      Finally, we went to the Malecón. This roadway is located along the Havanan coast and stretches from Centro Habana neighbourhood up yo Vedado neighbourhood. That amazing landscape was the best ending for such a wonderful trío.

The arrival

Although our first week in Cuba has been plenty of amazing surprises, we began the trip considerably scared: when the plane was about to land at the José Martí International Airport, we got sorrounded by an  aguacero - a sudden and powerful storm-.      In a moment, the flight turned terrifying as the turbulences shaked   us violently.   My wife and I could not believe such a horrible situation, but the man who delivered us up to the hotel after we arrived said that this kind of phenomena is very common here. We left our luggage and disposed to enjoy the experience.      We spent almost all our time in sightseeing the main places of Havana, including Santa María del Mar, a paradisiacal beach. We bought many souvenirs, knew local people and also danced with them! I think we could appreciate every colorful corner of this city –and it felt extraordinary-.
